The Fernandina Beach Police Department is a strong supporter of H.R. 218, the “Law Enforcement Officers’ Safety Act." The Department provides the required training and ID card free of charge to retired Federal, State, and municipal law enforcement officers that reside within the State of Florida. The handgun qualifications are held quarterly on the dates listed below. Please download, print and complete the attached form and bring it with you (Notary available at Police Department). You must also provide credentials showing you retired in good standing. There is an expected minimum contribution of $50.00 for participation in this Police Foundation program, payable by cash, check or money order to the Fernandina Beach Police Foundation. You must register no later than 5:00 PM on the Friday prior to the course.

Due to increased participation, we may be required to conduct a second qualifying session. Effective July 12, 2017, the primary qualification time is 10 a.m. If more than 10 registrations are received, a second qualification course will be held at 2 p.m. on the same date.
Please arrive promptly at 9:45 a.m. You must attend the 10 a.m. safety briefing, held in the Fernandina Beach Police Department Training Room, prior to proceeding to the range. If you are scheduled for the afternoon session, please arrive at 1:45 p.m. for the 2 p.m. safety briefing.
