Junior Lifeguard Programs

If you have a desire to become a lifeguard, either at a public swimming pool or a beach, why not get some early "field experience" with our summer Junior Lifeguard Programs? These are introductory programs that teach skills such as personal water safety, basic rescue techniques, ocean aquatic safety techniques, and others. Both the Introductory Jr. Lifeguard Exploration Program and Ocean Beach Jr. Lifeguard Program are administered through the Parks & Recreation Department (Fernandina Beach Ocean Rescue, a division of the Fernandina Beach Fire Department, is responsible for actual beach lifeguards on Nassau County beaches.  Email Haynes Cavender, Ocean Rescue Supervisor, for more information:  hcavender@fbfl.org).  Both programs are offered during the summer only (May - August).
