The Community Services Department is dedicated to providing a full range of public services related to building, planning, and code compliance, including building permit review, building inspections, comprehensive planning, land development administration, floodplain management, code enforcement, historic preservation, urban forestry, GIS mapping, public outreach, and citizen advisory board administration.
The Department achieves its commitment to professional, efficient, and responsive public service through emphasis on citizen safety, quality employees, adherence to responsible building and planning principles, practices, and codes, and utilization of current technologies.

Right of Way (ROW) Encroachments
The City will begin distributing RESIDENTIAL RIGHT-OF-WAY ENCROACHMENT PERMIT packets to certain City of Fernandina Beach property owners February 1, 2023. These permit application packets need to be submitted for all items in the Right-of-Way, with the exception of mailboxes and trees.
The permit fee is waived for the entire year of 2023.
