Bulletin B-02-2020

To:            All Contractors

From:        Stephen Beckman, CBO, CFM

Subject:    New Generators

For all new generator permit applications, The City of Fernandina Beach will require the following items:

1. A site plan showing location of generator equipment in relation to property line (setback), operable windows, and location and size of gas tank (if applicable).

2. A riser diagram along with load calculations. Riser diagram should show existing service details as well as new details.

3. Generator, transfer and load management equipment spec sheets along with installation instructions.

4. If located in a flood zone, a rated stand is required which elevates the generator to the required elevation (BFE+2). An updated elevation certificate, which documents the elevation of the generator, will be required to close out a permit in a flood zone. Stands must be rated for all applicable loads (weight of generator and wind loads).

  • At completion of project, if the equipment is placed at or close to property setback, a site survey will be required to verify proper location.
  • If the property is in a special flood hazard area, an elevation certificate will be required to show the new equipment meets required flood elevation.
