Benefits
Medical Insurance
Eligibility: 1st of the month following 30 days - Choice of three medical plans through United Healthcare including an HMO, PPO, and High Deductible Health Plan with a  Health Savings Account. Premium for the employee paid by the City for the HMO plan  and HDHP plan and a portion of the premium paid for the PPO plan.  55% of dependent coverage premium also paid by the City for employees hired prior to 10/1/13 and for IAFF covered employees hired prior to 1/1/14. Dependent coverage after these dates is 50%. Three (3) tier prescription drug plan also included in HMO & PPO plans.

Flexible Spending Account
Eligibility: 1st of the month following 30 days - Deposit pre-tax dollars into a Health or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account to reimburse eligible medical or day care expenses. Up to $2,500 for Health and $5,000 per family for Dependent Care.

Dental Insurance
Eligibility: 1st of the month following 30 days - Choice of plans available including a DHMO plan and a PPO plan through MetLife. Some orthodontics covereage included.  Premium fully paid by employee.

Life Insurance
Eligibility: 1st of the month following 30 days.
Basic Life Insurance - Term life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance equal to the employee’s yearly earnings rounded to the nearest $1,000. Premium paid by the City.

Optional Life Insurance - Additional life insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment may be purchased by employees. Life insurance coverage may be purchased for spouse (50% of employee purchase) and children at the employee’s expense. Cost of coverage is based on age and amount of coverage selected.

Pension Plan
Eligibility: Date of Hire
General Employees Pension Plan with an employee contribution of 6.5%. Employees are fully vested in the plan after six years of service.

Deferred Compensation
Eligibility: Date of Hire - The City offers two voluntary 457(b) deferred compensation plans, through ICMA and Nationwide Retirement Solutions.

Tuition Reimbursement
Eligibility: Six Months (180 days) - Reimbursement for two courses in any one semester with a final grade of a “C” or satisfactory completion. Reimbursement will include the cost of tuition and the reasonable cost of books.

Paid Time Off (PTO)
Eligibility: Date of hire
Time earned based on Hire Date

0 to 1 yr. – 7 days (56 hours)
1 to 5 yrs. – 20 days (160 hours)
5 to 10 yrs. – 25 days (200 hours)
10 to 15 years - 28 days (224 hours)
15 + yrs – 32 days (256 hours)
PTO is a combination of vacation and sick time that is accrued each pay period.

PBA covered employees hired after 10/1/13 will accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) as follows:
0 to 1 yr. - 60 hours
1 to 5 yrs. - 168 hours
5 to 15 yrs. - 210 hours
15 + years - 250 hours
PTO is a combination of vacation and sick time that is accrued each pay period.

Firefighters
0 to 1 yr. – 144 hours
1 to 8 yrs. – 192 hours
8 to 15 yrs. – 240 hours
15 to 20 years – 288 hours
20 + years – 312 hours 
6 hours sick time accrued each pay period.

Holidays
Eligibility: Date of Hire - Eleven paid holidays.

Eligibility: Date of Hire - Confidential counseling program for employees and their dependents

Golf Privilege
Eligibility: Date of Hire - All regular full-time employees are eligible to play golf (w/cart) at the City Course with a $22 surcharge per eighteen holes played. This privilege is subject to availability.

Pool Privilege
Eligibliity: Date of Hire - Employees and their families have pool privileges year-round for the heated pool at the Recreation Center and the pool and Martin Luther King Center.
