Chanukah lighting of the Menorah
December 7, 2023

Pocket Park downtown 
Chabad of Jacksonville is hosting a Chanukah lighting of the Menorah. The Menorah will be located at Pocket Park on Centre Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets. Gather at 5pm with a lighting at sunset (5:28pm) followed by desserts hosted by Chabad.

Run Like the Dickens

Main Beach
This 1-mile fun run starts at Main Beach on Saturday December 9th at 8:30am. The course will run 1/2 mile North or South on the beach, depending on the condition of the sand, and back to the start/finish area. Pre race warm up is courtesy of the Run Like the Dickens partner, McArthur Family YMCA. This is not a chipped race. Register through Friday Dec 1st until 5pm and receive an official Run Like the Dickens premium t-shirt! Event website

Dickens on Centre Holiday Festival

Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach Travel back in time during the ninth annual Dickens on Centre festival in historic downtown Fernandina Beach, Florida, on beautiful Amelia Island. Free to the public, this Victorian holiday festival is sure to enliven your Christmas spirit. Throughout the weekend, feel the spirit of the holiday with Victorian-inspired entertainment on two stages, family fun in Tiny Tim's Kids Zone including visits with St. Nick, holiday shopping, festive food and drink, costumed characters, holiday movies and plenty of Christmas inspiration. New Year's Eve Shrimp Drop

Light up Amelia with the City of Fernandina and Florida Public Utilities presents the annual New Year's Eve Shrimp Drop and fireworks display. This event features music, a laser show, food and non-food vendors, and party favors courtesy of Florida Public Utilities. The shrimp drops at 7:00pm followed by a breathtaking firework display.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade

Parade begins at the Peck Center, 516 S. 10th Street

This annual parade honors the life and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  This is a family friendly community event.  All are welcome to attend or participate.  This parade begins at the Peck Center, 516 S. 10th Street, travels north on 11th Street, then connects to the traditional parade route on Ash Street.  The parade concludes at the MLK, Jr. Center, 1200 Elm Street.  For more information, please contact Wayne Peterson at 904-753-1663.  This parade is organized by the Elm Street Sportsman Association. 

Amelia Island Montessori School Chili Cook-off

Amelia Island Montessori School's annual chili cook-off is a long running community event that focuses on chili tasting from local competitors. There will be live music, a kid's zone, and chili booths.

NHS Paws in the Park

Adoption event attended by local, non-profit shelter rescue groups. There will be pet related vendors and food trucks. Stop by and meet some of the adorable adoptable animals and talk with volunteers about how you can help by adopting or fostering, volunteering, and/or donating.

The Taste of Amelia event showcases culinary treats from Fernandina Beach's finest restaurants. Journey through 25 different restaurants in Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach for a great cause. 100% Of the proceeds benefit the Rotary Club of Fernandina Beach's annual scholarship drive which has provided merit and needs based scholarships to Nassau County students for over 30 years.
