In accordance with the 2017, 6th Edition, Florida Building Code, Section 1709.5 and the 2017, 6th Edition, Florida Residential Code, Section R609, the following requirements apply for windows; doors and garage doors during new installations or replacements.
Provide a completed jurisdictions Product Approval and Spec. Sheet form. Attention to providing the suffix number of each type of window or door under the master number is needed.
Replacements to be factored to the Component and Cladding loads as shown in Table R301.2(2) multiplied by the height and exposure adjustment coefficients shown in Table R301.2(3).
Use of any window or door assembly not meeting these minimum specifications will require separate engineering per unit type to be submitted with permit application package. See reference FBC, Section 1709.5 and FBCR, Section R609 and Table R 301.2 (2).
Provide for a Location Plan noting where the item(s) are being replaced are on the host structure.
Glass and window replacement in existing buildings shall comply with the 2017, 6th Edition, Existing Building Code, Section 406.
Note: As of the 2010, Florida Building Code the jurisdiction was removed from the Windborne Debris Zone protection requirements for risk class I, II, and III buildings.
